16 September 2022 — Singapore and Amsterdam-based strategic design consultancy, Chemistry, has received an honourable mention in Fast Company’s 2022 Innovation Design Awards, in the category of Wellness for the development of the Mental Health E-buddy App, Myloh.
Fast Company’s Innovation by Design Awards celebrates projects, products, and services by designers and businesses who are solving the most crucial problems of today and anticipating the pressing issues of tomorrow. The competition, now in its 11th year, features a range of blue-chip companies, emerging startups, and hungry young talents. It is one of the most sought-after design awards in the industry.
“A common theme among this year’s Innovation by Design honourees, which range from healthcare interfaces to autonomous driving technology, is permanence,” says Brendan Vaughan, editor-in-chief of Fast Company. “The products that leaped out to our editors and judges went against our quick-fix consumer culture, while also manifesting a more inclusive vision of design.”
Myloh is a personalised, accessible and mobile-friendly E-buddy app that helps youths manage their mental health, providing access to specialised tools, and timely learning and support resources, all in one place. Myloh is available to users anytime and anywhere, serving as a portable cheerleader to support youths in overcoming challenges and fears that hold them back.
Chemistry's role as the design team for Myloh was to conduct research to deeply understand the target audience and translate these findings and insights into powerful engagement mechanics. These mechanics were designed to support and nurture people using the app as they navigate their individual mental well-being journeys.
"The Chemistry team has been instrumental in delivering best-in-class innovative solutions, bringing the Myloh app to the next level,” says Myloh founder, Steve Loh, “Since we have launched our Version 2.0, our organisation sign-up has doubled."
“Our work on Myloh exemplifies the value we bring to the challenges our clients entrust us to help them solve,” says Chemistry’s Managing Director, Bassam Jabry. “I couldn’t be more delighted to receive this award on behalf of our entire team. It is absolutely a boost that affirms we are on the right path, using design as tool for positive impact.”
The judges for this year include renowned designers from a variety of disciplines, business leaders from some of the most innovative companies in the world, and Fast Company’s own writers and editors. Entries are judged on the key ingredients of innovation: functionality, originality, beauty, sustainability, user insight, cultural impact, and business impact.
Winners, finalists, and honourable mentions are featured online and in the October issue of Fast Company magazine, on newsstands September 27, 2022
